Obituary and Adoption Announcement
Yes, I must make the unfortunate announcement that Chule has passed on from this life, courtesy of my neighbor's evil dog. Chule, we trust that you have gone on to greener pastures and we shall miss you.
Hence we welcome your replacement, 1968, offspring of Pipoca. We are proud that 1968 has begun to look more canine and less like a rodent. We hope that he likes catfood, since that's what's for dinner around here since Chule's untimely departure.

Names are very important. For example, if I had an evil dog living next door, I would not have named my popcorn cat "Chewle", that's tempting fate. Or at least the evil dog next door. And what is the significance of '1968'? (I mean other than being the year Will Smith was born.)
But I WAS being careful! The evil dog speaks Portuguese, in which "Chule" means "foot odor". I suppose I could have thought of less appetizing names, but I didn't want to get crude.
And 1968 is part of the name of one of my favorite poems by Wendell Berry against the Vietnam war. It's something like March 17, 1968. But I thought that name was a little too long, so that's why I shortened it.
